Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville said Donald Trump’s scheduled Madison Square Garden rally is mimicking the 1939 Nazi rally in the same venue on Sunday as he spotted warning signs from the former president and those who once served under him.
“See what happened there. They are telling you exactly what they’re going to do, they’re telling you, ‘We’re going to institute a fascist regime,’” said Carville, who urged viewers to Google the rally in an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki.

Trump’s Oct. 27 rally has already been likened to the 1939 rally hosted by the German American Bund, a pro-Hitler and Nazi propaganda-spreading group who held a vision for the country that NPR described as a “cocktail of white supremacy, fascist ideology and American patriotism.”
Bund leader Fritz Julius Kuhn — who spoke at the rally — “wanted to be the Hitler of America,” “Swastika Nation” author Arnie Bernstein told NPR in 2019.
Trump, in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, called his political foes “the enemy from within” before suggesting that he could round them up using the military.
On Sunday, Carville knocked the media for how they cover Vice President Kamala Harris compared to Trump.

″The press and Alan Dershowitz wannabes out there, ‘But she should’ve gone to the Al Smith dinner, really, she doesn’t do enough long-form interviews,’” he said.
“I’m so sick of these people. The entire Constitution is in jeopardy.”
Carville cited recent comments by Trump’s former national security adviser and retried Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who declared that the “gates of hell” would be unleashed on the Republican nominee’s political foes should the election go to the former president and he’s brought back as “head of a military tribunal.”
He also referred to retired Army Gen. Mark Milley, former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Trump, reportedly describing the ex-president as “fascist to the core.”
Carville noted that the Supreme Court greenlit “the idea” of rounding up political foes through its presidential immunity ruling back in July.
“And by the way, if they win, they’re going to correctly say, ’We told you in election what we’re going to do and you voted for us, you have greenlighted the whole thing,” predicted Carville, who suggested that young Black men could be especially targeted in such a military round up under Trump.

He continued, “And they are telling you we’re not making this up. This is not, we can be fact-checked by anybody. They have promised military round up. … They are telling you they’re doing all of this. Pay attention to them right now, please. They’re telling you.”
