A couple who were married for 10 years made a shocking discovery when they decided to look at their family tree.
After a whirlwind romance saw Celina and Joseph Quinones walk down the aisle four months after they met, the pair went on to have three children together. However, when Celina’s curiosity about her ancestry got the better of her, she made a revelation that shook the family to its core.
After becoming a mum, Celina decided it would be interesting to look into her family’s history, and both she and Joseph sent DNA swabs off for testing. But when the results came back the pair were horrified when they discovered they were cousins.

When she found out she had a ‘cousband’, Celina admitted that she felt sick to her stomach and began to question whether she and Joseph should be together.
On the Love Don’t Judge podcast, she shared her thoughts about finding out they are third to fifth cousins: “I wondered, ‘Should we get a divorce? Are we meant to be together?’”
But instead getting the lawyers in, Celina, a realtor from Colorado, decided to share her tale with the world on TikTok.
Unsurprisingly, it went viral, and there was a very mixed response from users.
Celina wrote: “My kids and my husband are my everything and we looked past it. All our kids have 10 fingers and 10 toes. It’s a good ice breaker lol.”
Speaking to People, Celina said that they had received a lot of negative comments.
“People keep asking, ‘Why would you do that? Why would you post this?’ But I take everything with a grain of salt. I’m a realtor, so I’m used to getting badgered all the time, so I’m like, ah, it’s nothing.”
She told the publication that when they got married their families met, but no-one suspected they were related.
“We ended up having our wedding, and even then, our grandmas seemed to be a lot alike, and they got along, but still, nothing clicked.”
One TikTok user wrote: “You couldn’t torture this information out of me. We would have taken this to the grave cuz.”
Another said: “So like no one recognized y’all at the wedding as aunt Pam’s kid?”
However, many were sympathetic to the couple.
One wrote: “I’m sorry why are people coming for her? they found out AFTER the kids/marriage, what was she supposed to do? put them back?”
A second added: “If yall are happy, just be happy!! Don’t worry about the past or what people say… they are not you and have no right to tell you anything!! Just love your beautiful family and ignore the rest!!”
Celina told the People that after the shock of finding out their distant family entwinement she did a lot of soul searching.
But added that once she established her kids were fine, and there was nothing that could be done about it, she wasn’t going to let some blood get between them.
