The girlfriend of a £17m Premier League star has shared the truth on their spending habits.
Sophie Lawlor met Everton defender Jake O’Brien when they were just teenagers in Cork, Ireland. After five years together, the couple have moved back to the UK after a stint in France, where O’Brien played for Lyon.
The defender, 23, joined the Toffees on a four-year contract this summer. And despite the fact he’s now earning Premier League wages, his girlfriend, 22, took to TikTok to show her 16,000+ followers how they split the bills in their relationship.

She explained: “Here’s how we split bills as a couple who lives together. I pay for rent, gas and electric, council tax, car insurance, car fuel, dog food, food shop, girly things and travel.”
Although it may seem like Lawlor pays for these herself, she saved a twist for the end of the video alongside a picture of O’Brien: “He gives me the money to pay for it all.”

Although many fans commented about the funny twist in the video, with some calling Lawlor a ‘lucky girl,’ some Everton fans found it a place to vent their frustrations with manager Sean Dyche.
“Why would Everton spend 20 million on a defender and not play him,” one fan said, whilst another commented: “Please tell him to tell [Sean] Dyche to start him instead of Keane.”

O’Brien has found it difficult to get into the starting XI at Goodison Park. He has played two full 90 minutes in the EFL Cup, and came on as a substitute when Everton lost at Villa Park. He grabbed an assist in the Toffees EFL Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers.
O’Brien made 32 appearances for Lyon, scoring five goals and grabbing two assists. Before this, he had started at Cork City, and then moved to Crystal Palace, where he didn’t play and went out on loan, across to Swindon Town and RWD Molenbeek in Belgium.
“I’m buzzing and so happy to have signed,” the defender said when he penned the four-year deal in Merseyside. “I’ve been dreaming of this kind of move in the Premier League, with such a historic club. It’s a very exciting move for me.”
