Man Utd and England ‘need identical supervisor’ to switch Erik ten Hag and Lee Carsley

Manchester United and England are interested in appointing Thomas Tuchel as they both search for a new manager to turn their fortunes around.

Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Tuchel has been out of work since leaving the German giants in the summer and is likely to be seen as an attractive option due to his unemployment.

England are still looking for a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate and Lee Carsley’s audition as interim boss isn’t going well after a shock defeat to Greece in the Nations League last week.

As for United, their manager Erik ten Hag has come under increased scrutiny following poor results in the league and Europe. Many fans are calling for him to go and the proven Tuchel is being lined up as a potential replacement, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United need someone to steady the ship and Tuchel is a proven top-quality manager who has won the biggest trophies in football having guided Chelsea to the Champions League in 2021.

However, his previous spells have often ended in fallouts with both players and directors.

While a move to Old Trafford seems more plausible, England could also be on the cards. Current interim boss Carsley recently distanced himself from the job permanently saying that the Three Lions need a ‘world-class’ manager and Tuchel certainly fits that bill.

He has emerged as the 8/15 favourite according to Betfair, with Carsley’s odds dramatically drifting following his post-match comments after England’s 1-3 victory over Finland.

The recent news that the FA have also sounded out Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola for the role also shows that they aren’t afraid to appoint a proven figure over homegrown talent.

England tried going down that route with Southgate and although he was successful, the Three Lions couldn’t ultimately get over the line.
