8 in 10 Brits wish to embody the Italian ‘la dolce vita’ life-style

A recent survey has shown that eight in 10 Brits are admirers of Italian culture, labelling it as ‘passionate’ (41%), ‘laid-back’ (37%), and ‘sophisticated’ (26%). Almost half of those who have previously travelled to the cuisine hot spot would love to return.

The nation’s rich history, breathtaking architecture, and welcoming locals are among the highlights, not to mention the mouth-watering Italian cuisine. And now it appears Brits are eager to infuse some of the Italian lifestyle into their own lives.

The study, which polled over 2,000 adults, discovered that more than a fifth are keen to embrace the Italian mantra of ‘my house is your house’, while a third are interested in working to live, not living to work. Meanwhile, 39% are yearning for a slower, more relaxed pace of life, and 10% like the idea of using a lot of gestures to express themselves.

Filippo Ferrari from Lavazza, who commissioned the research to celebrate the launch of its new coffee range ‘Tales of Italy’, said: “The Italian way of life is a celebration of connection and appreciating the beauty in everything.”

“One way they can do this is by slowing down and savouring life’s everyday pleasures” he explained. “This could mean enjoying a leisurely meal with loved ones, choosing quality over quantity, or luxuriating in simple rituals like your morning coffee.”

A recent survey revealed that a whopping 32% of folks indulge in Italian grub or sips at least once a week, showing we’re totally smitten with the nosh from the land of the Rome, Venice and the mighty Colosseum.

Almost half (48%) of those who have visited the country have tried to recreate recipes or drinks upon their return home. As a hefty 70% reckon that knowing about the cultural and historic roots of their top Italian dishes is crucial.

Big cheese Filippo Ferrari claimed: “Italian cuisine and coffee are more than just food and drink – they’re expressions of culture, regional traditions, and passion.”

Top dog Ferrari also spilled the beans, saying: “We want to share the ‘true’ essence of Italian coffee culture with the world – each blend provides a sensory journey, carefully created to evoke the unique spirit of some of Italy’s most iconic cities.”
