The devastated mum of a daredevil photographer who tragically died in a climbing accident in Spain has paid tribute to her boy.
Lewis Stevenson, 26, met his untimely end while attempting to conquer the towering 630ft-high Castilla La Mancha bridge in Talavera de la Reina on Sunday (October 13).
Mr Stevenson’s Instagram is a testament to his love for high-altitude photography, boasting snaps from sky-high vantage points including New York City’s skyscrapers. His thrill-seeking lifestyle, however, has culminated in heartache, with his girlfriend and grandad having shared their grief earlier this week.

Tonight, his mother Keilia has come forward with an emotional homage to her son, expressing how he always filled her with immense pride. In comments made to Derbyshire Live, she revealed: “Lewis was my boy, my world and my biggest achievement. He was happy and ambitious in life. He was a thrill seeker who loved to travel and have new experiences.”
Keilia said she wasn’t always on board with the extreme risks Mr Stevenson took for his art but recognised it as his “passion”. Her poignant words added: “We, as a whole family, supported his adventures around the world, which included amazing places he got to visit like Easter Island and Machu Picchu, but unfortunately, those adventures also included climbing great heights, which we didn’t particularly agree with but understood this was what he loved to do.
“He knew his limits and never did anything beyond them. He was a keen photographer and he did this all for passion not as an influencer. There will forever be a hole in our hearts and life will not be the same again.
“We are absolutely devastated by this tragic accident and ask people to please be respectful whilst we grieve.”
The daredevil, Mr Stevenson, famed for his “rooftopping” stunts, often shared his experiences on Instagram. His feed boasted snaps from dizzying heights such as a New York City skyscraper and a precarious perch on a metal beam above London’s bustling streets.
Other thrilling captures included dangling off a structure in Croatia and chilling on a hotel rooftop in Mexico City. Tragically, the adventurer was discovered deceased under a bridge in Spain last Sunday.
The exact height from which Lewis fell remains a mystery, with the bridge’s summit reaching a staggering 630ft. Officials have announced that they are investigating the circumstances of this heartbreaking event.
