Anna Kendrick says she is ‘childless cat girl’ in candid dialogue

Anna Kendrick called herself a ‘childless cat lady’ as she opened up about her decision to not have children.

The Pitch Perfect actress, 39 – who recently reunited with her Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars at the Woman Of The Hour premiere – discussed the topic during an interview with Flow Space that was published on Wednesday.

At one point, she expressed, ‘I was thinking recently about a phrase I’ve heard men say about their desire to have children in the future, and it occurred to me: I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman say that.’

Kendrick added, ‘And the thing they’ll say is, “Yeah, maybe one day – a couple of kids running around.”‘

‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman say that! Because it paints a certain visual, yes?’

Anna Kendrick called herself a ‘childless cat lady’ as she opened up about her decision to not have children; seen earlier this month in L.A.

In regards to the ‘visual,’ Anna explained, ‘That you come home at the end of your workday, and you put down your proverbial briefcase.’

‘And you’re making yourself a cocktail, and a woman in a Laura Ashley dress is out in the yard, and there’s a couple of kids – in white! – running around.’

The Twilight star then asked men, ‘Um, Where are you in that, sir?’

‘I don’t know, there’s something about that phrase that really starts to rub me the wrong way. It’s like when I hear husbands say they want to “help out” with the kids. And it’s two working parents!’

Kendrick also revealed that she wants to bring up the topic and share her own thoughts to pals who are mothers, but does not feel she is able to do so.

‘And I always want to kind of say something, and then I’m just like, “Well, I’m the childless cat lady. I’m not gonna say s**t.”‘

Earlier this month, Anna also talked about not having kids during an interview with The Guardian – following Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance’s comments about ‘childless cat ladies.’

‘I don’t ever think about having kids, so I guess I spend just as little time thinking about weaponizing that,’ the actress expressed.

At one point, she expressed, ‘I was thinking recently about a phrase I’ve heard men say about their desire to have children in the future, and it occurred to me: I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman say that’; seen in 2023 in Texas

‘And I always want to kind of say something, and then I’m just like, “Well, I’m the childless cat lady. I’m not gonna say s**t,’ she added; seen in July in Santa Monica

She also explained that any child she has would end up being ‘another kid that your kid is going to have to fight when the water wars come.’

‘Here’s the best argument for why I don’t have kids,’ Anna added, while explaining how she has fallen asleep to the sound of TikTok cat videos.

‘I thought: ‘I’d have an easier time falling asleep with the weight of a cat on me. But I’m not responsible enough to own a cat.’

The star continued, ‘Someone should really make a robot cat that does all the purring and the kneading. And then I was like: wait, I’m not even up to the “cat lady” part! Why would anyone trust me with a kid?’

Kendrick has been keeping busy and preparing for the release of her directorial debut titled, Woman Of The Hour.

The Netflix crime thriller is based on serial killer, Rodney Alcala, and is slated to drop on the streaming site later this week on October 18.

Anna also took on the leading role of Cheryl in the movie, alongside other cast members such as Daniel Zovatto, Nicolette Robinson, Tony Hale, Kathryn Gallagher and Pete Holmes.

The premise is: ‘Cheryl Bradshaw, a single woman looking for a suitor on a hit 1970s TV show, chooses charming bachelor Rodney Alcala, unaware that, behind the man’s gentle facade, he hides a deadly secret,’ per IMDB.

While also talking to The Guardian, Kendrick discussed stepping behind the camera and also coming up with the title for the film.

‘There’s something perverse and ironic about Woman of the Hour. This is supposedly Cheryl’s moment, but she’s an object of consumption and objectification.’

Earlier last week on Thursday, Kendrick attended the premiere of Woman Of The Hour in Los Angeles.

She was effortlessly chic wearing a pair of black pants as well as a sleeveless, halter-styled black vest.

The actress slipped into a pair of closed-toed, black heels and allowed her long locks to flow down past her shoulders in elegant waves.

While posing on the red carpet, Anna had the chance to reunite with some of her Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars, Kelley Jakle and Chrissie Fit.
