Brit {couples} admit to utilizing farts as smelly weapons throughout heated arguments

Almost two out of ten couples say they have weaponised farting during rows, a poll found.

A shocking 19% said they let rip at home to show displeasure or wind up their partner.

Men are more likely to let off than women during a row with 14 % owning up compared to five per cent of women and people from Manchester do it the most.

The bingo site WhichBingo | Top UK Online Bingo and Slot Reviews and Offers asked 2,000 UK adults if they fart infront of their partner and why to come up with the findings.

Spokesman Charlie Shakespeare said: “Our research shows that couples are letting rip at the drop of hat.

“Whether they do it to be annoying, to be rude or even to break the ice after a row, letting off seems to be something people do to communicate their moods – good or bad.”

Older couples fart the most infront of partners with 26% of Baby Boomers – those aged over 59 – saying they do it.

That compares with just 14% of Generation Z – those aged 16 to 26 – who do it the least followed by 17% of Millennials – those aged 27 to 42 – and 21 % of Generation X – those aged 43 to 58.

Overall 21% said farting can also break the ice after a big row and restores good relations.

Nearly a third of couples from Manchester – 30% – said they fart at each other making them the biggest farting couple sin the country.

Newcastle couples came second on 27% followed by Glasgow in third place on 23% and Sheffield fourth on 21%.

Bristol came fifth on 18% ahead of Birmingham in sixth place on 15%, Nottingham seventh on 13%, London eighth on 12% and Norwich ninth on 11%.

Cardiff couples are the least likely to fart at each other with just ten per cent saying they do so placing them tenth at the bottom of the table.
