I ordered a brand new pair of sneakers however I used to be fuming when it arrived

A woman was left ‘fuming’ after ordering a new pair of shoes from Vinted only to be left with a very different parcel.

Shannon Lewis, 21, was looking forward to receiving her Pretty Little Thing branded trainers in the post after buying them on the platform Vinted.

The website allows users to buy new or second-hand items clothes or accessories.

The travel agent was on holiday in Wales but was due to come back home in Basingstoke when she spotted the shoes.

However, what she thought was a simple purchase had an unexpected turn.

The ‘Preety little thing’ trainers which Miss Lewis bought from Vinted

Miss Lewis, speaking to MailOnline said: ‘I was on holiday in Wales with my mum when I messged the seller and asked them if I could buy the shoes but if she could send them some days later so that I could be home when it arrives.’

After buying the beige trainers, she informed the seller that she would be returning home and on October 4 the parcel was shipped, screenshots of the conversation show.

‘I was just looking forward to having my new shoes…’ the former health care assistant said.

However, the dream of using the new pair was crushed once when Miss Lewis went to collect her parcel at her local Morrison Daily.

She said: ‘When I went to the shop and showed them my ID they then went to get the box. They asked them what was so they could find it among other boxes so I told them it was a pair of shoes.

‘They passed me the box and the guy at the counter told me he felt like there was nothing in the box. When he handed me the box I could already tell the box was empty.

‘I knew something was wrong when I left the shop so I got my phone out to start filming it.

‘I was fuming, I just wanted my shoes.’

Miss Lewis messaged the seller, but initially, she wasn’t getting any responses which prompted her to share what happened to her on a Vinted Facebook page and filming and sharing the videos on her TikTok page.

She said: ‘It’s not about the money, it’s more about the principle. I was sharing the video for awareness. And people have been saying that it has happened to them as well.

‘The box did not look tampered with and there was nothing in it when I opened it.’

In her messages to Miss Lewis, the seller claims the trainers were in the box when the parcel was sent.

‘She then started sending me these sassy messages and then at one point calls me a scammer.’

After two hours, the seller, who MailOnline is not naming, replied to Miss Lewis and issued her with a refund for the £7.72 purchase.

Things then escalated when another TikTok account was created with the description ‘My side of the story’ where screenshots of the seller’s messages with Miss Lewis insinuating the buyer is the scammer.

The row has attracted the attention of thousands of people with the seller claiming they have been messaged by other users accusing her of ‘scamming’.

Speaking of the whole situation, Miss Lewis added: ‘It’s just ridiculous really. Honestly, it’s just a pair of shoes. I haven’t helped because I was the one who shared the videos. I’m doing it now because I found it quite funny.’

It is still not clear how the trainers went missing.

A spokesperson for Vinted said: ‘If an item is Significantly Not As Described (SNAD), never arrives or is damaged in transit, members can report the issue and claim a refund as per Vinted’s Refund Policy.’
