Ipswich’s clash with Everton in the Premier League this afternoon has been delayed by 15 minutes due to an IT issue at Portman Road.
A statement from Ipswich on X said “We are aware of an issue with the turnstiles, impacting supporters’ entry to Portman Road ahead of this afternoon’s game. We ask for your patience as we work on a solution.” The decision was then taken to delay the kick-off to 3.15pm.
Everton supporters were quick to blast The Tractor Boys on social media calling the situation “pathetic” and called out Ipswich for being a “tinpot” club.
In a statement, the Premier League then said: “Kick-off for today’s Premier League match between Ipswich Town and Everton will be delayed by 15 minutes to 3:15pm, due to issues with the turnstiles.”
Ipswich later confirmed: “The localised power issue impacting supporters’ entry to the stadium has now been fully resolved. Kick-off in 10 minutes. We thank you for your patience.”
The highly anticipated clash is already being viewed as a relegation six-pointer despite only being a few months into the season.
Just a single point separates the two sides heading into this afternoon’s clash with Ipswich yet to register a win in their first season back in the top flight.
The Toffee’s sole victory so far has came against Crystal Palace last month but pressure is mounting on boss Sean Dyche as new owners settle into Goodison Park.
Ipswich are hoping to bounce back from a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of West Ham and will be hoping the home crowd can spur them on to a victory ahead of tough fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United next month.
