West Ham instructed they’re ’10 occasions simpler to face with out Moyes’ after Spurs rout

West Ham have been told they’re “10 times easier to play against without David Moyes” after suffering a 4-1 thrashing away at Tottenham.

The Hammers recorded a famous 2-1 win when they travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last December, which their former manager Moyes described as “one of the biggest wins I’ve had in football”. Goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse secured the “huge victory” for the Scotsman’s side – but less than a year later, the picture is very different.

Under pressure Spanish boss Julen Lopetegui is now in charge at West Ham and his side capitulated after taking a 1-0 lead through Mohammed Kudus, with their Ghanaian star later sent off to compound the Hammers’ misery, following a four-goal salvo from their bitter London rivals.

The result left West Ham slumped in 14th in the Premier League table and rival fans were quick to remind Hammers supporters that many of them wanted a change of manager in the summer and campaigned for Moyes to leave due to his perceived negative style of football, despite him winning them their first major silverware in 43 years in 2023 and finishing ninth in the table last season.

One fan posted on X: “Lopetegui LOL. West ham have become 10x easier to play against without David Moyes. It wasnt worth it.” A second supporter said: “This decline couldn’t have happened to a better team, I hate how they treated David Moyes.”

Son Heung-Min celebrates scoring Tottenham’s fourth goal against West Ham

A third fan commented: “Missing Uncle David Moyes Hammers??? Be careful what you wish for… Enjoy your attractive football under Lopetegui.” A fourth posted: “Remember when West Ham thought they were too good for David Moyes.” And a fifth added: “David Moyes is somewhere sipping a single malt whiskey with 1 ice cube in the fanciest tumbler you can ever imagine.”

Tottenham responded to their “worst defeat” under Ange Postecoglou – the 3-2 loss at Brighton before the international break – with a brilliant second half display to secure the 4-1 victory. Dejan Kulusevski pulled the hosts level with a strike in the first half, before the home team dominated possession and the rest of the game.

Destiny Udogie set up Yves Bissouma’s goal to put Tottenham ahead beforegoal before an unfortunate own goal extended their lead, with the excellent Kulusevski finding Son Heung-min, whose shot was saved by Alphonse Areola, but came back off Jean-Clair Todibo and trickled over the line. Son then finished off a fine run by scoring the fourth.
