Corrie icon Roy Cropper joins Leicester followers in sweary chant throughout Saints romp

Coronation Street Icon Roy Cropper joined in with the Leicester fans over the weekend to chant back at shattered Southampton supporters in the Foxes 3-2 victory.

The Saints were up 2-0 before the 30 minute mark. Goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo had put them ahead in what looked to be Russell Martin side’s first win of the season.

It was in the second half where Leicester were able to fight back, scoring the winning goal in the 98th minute. Southampton, as a result, are still rock bottom of the table in what is turning out to be a miserable season on the South Coast.

Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, was spotted in the away stands with his fellow Foxes supporters. When the Midlands team had won the game, they took advantage of the previously smug Saints supporters.

The Corrie star happily joined in with the mocking chant, “2-0 up and you f***ed it up.” He may be 75, but he was as spirited as any other supporter in St Mary’s on Saturday.

The moment was caught on camera and posted to X via the Football Away Days account with the caption: “Roy Cropper enjoying himself in the Leicester away end at Southampton today.”

Neilson has portrayed Cropper in Corrie since 1995. he has been involved in some of the key storylines in his time there. One of the most notable story lines he was involved in was when he married the first transgender character in a British Soap Opera, Hayley Patterson, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh.
