Chaos ensued this evening (October 21) in Wales as two trains collided, unleashing major travel disruptions. The collision, occurring in the Talerddig region of Powys, led to the cancellation of all services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth, as announced by Transport for Wales.
Emergency responders including paramedics, fire brigades, and police were quick to arrive at the accident site. It is currently unknown with regards to if anyone has sustained any serious injuries.
The local constabulary, Dyfed-Powys Police, has warned drivers to steer clear of the A470 stretch from Carno to Commins Coch, which is presently shut down, advising motorists to seek alternative routes.

Commenting on the incident, a British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Llanbrynmair at 7.29pm today (21 October) to reports of a low-speed train collision involving two trains. Paramedics, fire and rescue, and Dyfed Powys Police are all in attendance and the incident is ongoing.”
Adding to the information, Transport for Wales released a statement saying: “Due to a operational incident in the Talerddig area, services will experience severe disruption. Emergency services and Network Rail are on site. Services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth will be cancelled until further notice, rail replacement in operation. Due to road closures we are unable to call at Caersws station until further notice.”, reports the Mirror.
Passengers travelling between Machynlleth and Pwllheli can breathe a sigh of relief, though, with those services continuing as usual. However, it’s worth noting that any rail replacement transportation may also face delays and complications owing to the ongoing emergency operations affecting local roads.
