Snow maps forecast 150-mile snow blitz throughout UK cities on Halloween weekend

Weather maps are turning white as a 150-mile snow blitz is set to hit several UK towns. WXCharts has predicted snowfall for parts of the UK next week (October 31), accompanied by rain and low temperatures.

Snow is expected in northwest Scotland over Talmine, Tongue, Kylesku, Lairg, Ullapool, Dingwall, Garve, Kinlochewe, Strathcarron, Cannich, Fort Augustus and Mallaig. Rain will sweep across much of Scotland (Wick, Inverness, Fort William, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumfries) and all of Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast).

The chilliest temperatures will be in north Scotland (Wick, Inverness, Fort William) with lows of 6C. The rest of the country (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow) and northern England (Newcastle, Carlisle) will hover between 7C and 9C.

Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), Wales (Cardiff, Conwy) and parts of northern England (Liverpool, Sheffield) will experience temperatures between 8C and 10C. The midlands (Birmingham, Cambridge, Norwich), and the south of England (London, Bath, Southampton, Plymouth) will range from 11C to 13C.

While the Met Office hasn’t explicitly forecasted snow and usually doesn’t more than five days in advance, it does predict some overnight frosts. Its long-range forecast states: “Initially breezy or windy with large amounts of cloud and some outbreaks of rain, especially in northern and western areas, with generally drier conditions farther southeast.”, reports the Express.

“However, high pressure is likely to build more strongly across southern UK into next week, tending to restrict the majority of any wet and windy weather to the far northwest.”

“That said, areas of cloud trapped underneath this area of high pressure may still produce some drizzly rain in places, with an increased chance of frost and fog under any lengthier clear spells, perhaps slow to clear.”

The Met Office’s five-day forecast predicts morning fog will lift, leading to dry conditions with bright or sunny spells for most. However, northwest Scotland can expect a breezy and cloudy day with sporadic rain.

Despite this, temperatures will remain mild. As we move into Thursday and Friday, conditions will gradually become unsettled from the west, with rain and brisk winds moving eastwards.

This unsettled pattern continues into Saturday, with further rain and showers expected. Temperatures will hover around average.
