A 150-mile-long snow blast is set to hit several UK towns, with weather maps turning a frosty white. As temperatures continue to plummet nationwide, WXCharts predicts that parts of the country could see snowfall as early as this weekend, on October 31, accompanied by rain and chilly weather.
Northwest Scotland residents are bracing for a snowy Halloween weekend, with areas including Talmine, Tongue, Kylesku, Lairg, Ullapool, Dingwall, Garve, Kinlochewe, Strathcarron, Cannich, Fort Augustus, and Mallaig in the firing line. Meanwhile, Brits in the north and south of England will largely escape the snowfall, experiencing mostly dry weather with light drizzles of rain.

In Scotland, rain is expected to sweep across Wick, Inverness, Fort William, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dumfries, as well as all of Northern Ireland, including Derry and Belfast. Temperatures are set to drop to their lowest, with lows of 6C expected in Wick, Inverness, and Fort William.
The rest of Scotland, including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, as well as northern England, including Newcastle and Carlisle, will see temperatures ranging from 7C to 9C.
In Northern Ireland, Wales, and parts of northern England, including Liverpool and Sheffield, temperatures are expected to hover between a comfortable 8C to 10C. On the other hand, the midlands and the south of England, including Birmingham, Cambridge, Norwich, London, Bath, Southampton, and Plymouth, will experience slightly warmer temperatures ranging from 11C to 13C, as reported by the Express, reports the Mirror.
This comes as Brits have been warned to prepare for an icy -5C blast with snow also predicted to cover large parts of the country next month. WXCharts suggests that some areas could face up to an 80% chance of snowfall.
Wintry showers are anticipated to blanket a significant portion of the Highlands on Saturday, November 2, with overnight temperatures plunging below freezing across vast areas of the UK. Scotland is predicted to be hit hardest on Monday, November 4, with the Highlands and Scottish borders most likely to see snow.
The forecast also hints at the possibility of the northern Pennines in England receiving a light dusting of snow. While the Met Office has not explicitly forecasted snow, it does anticipate some overnight frosts.
Its long-range forecast states: “Initially breezy or windy with large amounts of cloud and some outbreaks of rain, especially in northern and western areas, with generally drier conditions farther southeast.”
“However, high pressure is likely to build more strongly across southern UK into next week, tending to restrict the majority of any wet and windy weather to the far northwest. That said, areas of cloud trapped underneath this area of high pressure may still produce some drizzly rain in places, with an increased chance of frost and fog under any lengthier clear spells, perhaps slow to clear.”
