Football followers joke ‘by no means change’ as Jose Mourinho is shipped off towards Man Utd

Jose Mourinho was up to his old tricks on Thursday evening.

The Special One was up against an old foe as his Fenerbahce side welcomed Manchester United to Istanbul in the Europa League. However, Mourinho didn’t last the full 90 minutes as he was given his marching orders during the second half.

The Fenerbahce manager was left fuming after Manuel Ugarte appeared to bring down Bright Osayi-Samuel in the box, and he hit the roof when both the referee and the VAR official waved away his protests – leading him to be sent off.

“Everything changes in football. But not Jose Mourinho,” one fan joked. While a second said: “José Mourinho will never change, and that’s why we love him!”

“Got to love absolutely everything about Mourinho bar managing your football club,” a third joked. And another added: “Mourinho got a red card and was sent to the stands. But he’s not fully in the stands he’s currently sitting on a stool arguing and relaying tactics back to the team. This is Europa League!”

The Red Devils had taken the lead in Istanbul, as Christian Eriksen netted with their first shot of the game.

However, Fenerbahce started to take control of the game – and even Mourinho was left in shock as Andre Onana produced a miraculous double save just before the half-time whistle.

Fenerbahce were able to get back on level terms four minutes into the second half as Youssef En-Nesyri – who had seen Onana deny him twice in quick succession – got one over the Cameroonian shot-stopper.

The sides would share the spoils on Thursday evening, as United continue to search for their first win in Europe this season.
