‘Monster’ croc knowledgeable attacked by prisoners as sick canine crimes uncovered in jail

A 53-year-old British crocodile expert exposed as “monster” who sexually assaulted dogs was reportedly attacked by inmates in prison after they found out about his disgusting spree. However, he claims to be relieved that his offending is over.

Adam Britton, who confessed to 63 charges of bestiality, animal cruelty, and possession of child abuse material, was analysed by prison psychologists who discovered a disturbing pattern of trauma leading up to his court appearance last year. The British-born Australian zoologist revealed that he is tormented by other prisoners for his actions.

In August, the Northern Territory Supreme Court sentenced Britton to 10 years in prison after he was caught sharing videos of himself torturing dogs to death on Telegram. Since then, it has emerged that his crimes are even more horrifying and include acts of bestiality.

Over a two-year period, the court found that Britton had acquired more than 42 dogs from ‘Gumtree Australia’ with the intention of torturing them to death on camera. He became known as the ‘Monster of McMinns Lagoon’, naming the vast property where he lived and committed his crimes in Australia.

In 2022, police stormed the McMinns Lagoon property near Darwin that he shared with his ex-wife, biologist Erin, who was frequently away for work and oblivious to his actions.

Daily Mail Australia dropped a bombshell with the release of “extensive psychological reports that illuminate his childhood sexual assault, the total collapse of his marriage, his descent into zoosadism, and the relief he experienced” upon being caught by the police.

The confidential documents, which were presented to the court ahead of his sentencing, are the work of forensic psychologists who conducted in-depth interviews with Britton from January to July.

His poor ex-wife had no idea what he was getting up to behind her back

Britton confided in the specialists that his unusual interest in animals took root when he was just six years old but took a dark turn at 13 after being sexually assaulted by an older teenager during a school trip to France.

In a bizarre twist, he would often trespass into horse paddocks near his family’s property to embrace the horses and ingest their hair and saliva. “I thought that would incorporate into my body and I would become a horse. I hadn’t gotten to that point in my schooling about DNA. This is what I wanted,” Britton disclosed to the psychologists.

Doctors link his peculiar animal attraction to deep-seated self-hatred. By 2014, Britton found himself drowning in depression, grappling with marital discord, financial woes, and the grief of losing his father.

One fateful evening, a heated dispute with his wife, whom he had wed a decade earlier, became the tipping point. After she stormed out, he initiated his perverse sexual escapades with animals.

He recounted to the experts: “I went outside, took my clothes off, jumped in this muddy puddle and started rolling around in it. Like I wanted to be an animal.”

When his two Swiss Shepherds approached him, they unintentionally initiated a disturbing sequence of events, which sparked a twisted desire within Britton. He confessed that something “snapped” in his mind, and he developed a warped fascination with the idea of behaving like an animal.

Britton contemplated taking his own life by leaping into a crocodile enclosure at his home

Initially consumed by self-loathing, Britton eventually succumbed to his dark impulses, repeating the act and gradually incorporating it into his daily routine while his ex-wife was away.

What began as a passion for rescuing animals took a sinister turn, as Britton started torturing and slaughtering dogs. Over a two-year period, he brutally killed more than 40 dogs.

At his lowest point, Britton contemplated taking his own life by leaping into a crocodile enclosure at his home, but later expressed relief at being taken into custody: “[One of the overriding feelings I had after my arrest was, ‘Thank f**k this is all over.’ The silver lining for all this was that this was over,” he recalled.

Following his arrest, Britton said the negative media portrayal of his heinous crimes led to the loss of friendships; his mother still sends him emails, but his sister has severed ties, a close friend who is a priest in Scotland stopped communicating with him, and he faces hostility from fellow inmates.

Britton confessed that the other inmates “taunt” him, and one even physically assaulted him on Boxing Day. Additionally, photographs and magazines featuring animals have been confiscated from his cell.

He added: “I basically just torpedoed my entire life. My reputation. I’m not sure that I can rescue anything when I get out of here.” Following the incident, Britton has been slapped with a lifetime ban on ever owning an animal again.
