Nanny’s horror after discovering father whose children she sorted had been watching her on hidden cameras

A nanny in Alabama was left horrified after discovering the father of the children in her care had been spying on her through hidden cameras – including the bathroom.

Jonathan Bethancourt, 31, was charged with eleven counts of video voyeurism following his arrest in May, and an additional eight after his second arrest in July once Alyssa Glavan made the disturbing discovery,

Bethancourt was later heard attempting to pay for Glavan’s silence after she notified authorities in a recording obtained by police.

Glavan was hired by Bethancourt and his wife to babysit their two daughters last December.

Jonathan Bethancourt, 31, was charged with 19 counts of video voyeurism after two arrests this year connected to hidden cameras in his home

Alyssa Glavan was Bethancourt’s nanny for his two daughters and discovered the hidden camera in the bathroom of his home in Slidell, Louisianna

While working for the family, she then made an unsettling find when realized a camera was disguised as a smoke detector in the bathroom.

‘I dropped some Q-Tip’s, and I went to pick them up and I see this smoke detector like leveled with my crotch,’ she told WDSU. ‘So, I’m like that’s weird why is there a smoke detector in the closet – for one in the bathroom.’

Glavan said she took the camera down and found an SD card inside and a QR code on the back.

‘I scan the QR code and what pops up is how to set up your eye spy camera. It was so perfectly placed he would see me every time I pulled my pants down,’ she said.

She added to WALA: ‘I was like, “This can’t be real”, and when I saw the SD card I was like, “Oh my God” and [the QR code] said how to set up your I-spy camera. That’s when it really sent me, and I started freaking out and my heart was beating really fast.’

Taking the camera and the kids with her, she went to the Siddell Police Department.

The hidden camera that Glavan found in the bathroom was pointed at the toilet and was disguised as a smoke detector

Glavan discovered a QR code on the back which directed her to set up an ‘I-spy’ camera, she then took the device to the Slidell Police Department

Bethancourt attempted to plead with Glavan and even offered her money to keep her quiet

Bethancourt was arrested in May for eleven counts of video voyeurism and again in July for eight more counts. Along with Glavan’s lawsuit against him, two more alleged victims have filed lawsuits against him, one being a minor

Bethancourt quickly found out what was going on and sent several text messages to Glavan, including offering money to keep her quiet.

According to Glavan, he then began calling her seven times, and she was told she could answer and record the call if she felt comfortable doing so.

‘I’m sorry I was just being perverted,’ Bethancourt said on the recorded phone call, reported WDSU, before he apologized multiple times.

According to the Slidell Police Department, an investigation began in late May and an additional hidden camera was found as well as ‘other incriminating evidence’.

Additional victims were identified after investigators combed through ‘substantial amounts of video evidence’, as well as discovering Bethancourt had placed cameras at his condo in Orange Beach, Alabama, as well as his home in Slidell.

The lawsuit against Bethancourt includes a list of other defendants such as his business, Bethancourt’s A/C and Heating, and his wife, Lauren Bethancourt.

The lawsuit seeks to address the privacy violations and potential damages suffered by the victim, according to Martzell, Bickford and Centola law firm.

Glavan said she has suffered public embarrassment and mental anguish over not only being recorded but also the possibility that the images were shared.

Bethancourt is currently out on bond after his second arrest in July and charged with an additional eight counts of video voyeurism.

Following his second arrest, according to AZ Family, two other lawsuits have been filed by alleged victims, one of them being a minor.
