Jamie Oliver is launching a cookery school and cafe at John Lewis’s revamped flagship store in London.
The tie-up is part of an £800million investment by John Lewis over the next four years to spruce up its stores and win back middle-class shoppers.
The two classrooms and 50-seat cafe will open at the Oxford Street branch in March.
Peter Ruis, executive director of the chain, said the department stores need ‘more love’ after a period of closures and job losses.
He also said he was ‘quietly optimistic’ about Christmas, adding: ‘We’ve seen optimism build going into autumn.
‘The buzz is back in John Lewis and we’re giving customers even more reason to shop in our stores, backing ourselves with significant investment.’
