Labour MP filmed in avenue over ‘dazed’ man shouting – ‘you will not threaten me once more’

Fuming Labour MP Mike Amesbury was seen having a row with a bloke who appeared dazed shouting “you won’t threaten” an MP again.

The shocking footage emerged as police confirmed they were looking into reports of an assault as bystanders claimed the politician was ‘smacking someone on the floor’.

The footage captures the ex-shadow minister looming over a fella sprawled on the ground, jabbing a finger and bellowing: “You won’t ever threaten me again.”

As Amesbury struts off, a bystander pipes up noting he’s Runcorn’s MP and chides the politcian who roars back: “Yes I am, and you won’t threaten the MP ever again, will you? “

The MP spoke out after the apparent scrap in place in Frodsham, Cheshire, saying: “Last night, I was involved in an incident that took place after I felt threatened on the street following an evening out with friends.”

He added: “This morning, I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident.”, reports the Mirror.

A tight-lipped Amesbury insisted: “I will not be making further public comment but will, of course, cooperate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police.”

He declared: “I remain fully committed to working hard for the people of Runcorn and Helsby, and am determined to remain an open and accessible MP for our community.”

Prior to this uproar, the Manchester Evening News reports Amesbury popped by a policing event with Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Dan Price.

Throughout the years Larbour was clawing away from the bench, Amesbury held down a slew of shadow ministerial gigs, most recently clocking in as the Minister for Building Safety and Homelessness right up ’til 2023 when the polls were last called.

He’s been on the frontline fighting to slash the price of school uniforms.

Cheshire Police dished out a statement, saying: “At 2.48am on Saturday 26 October, police were called to reports of an assault in Frodsham. A caller reported he had been assaulted by a man in Main Street. Enquiries are ongoing.”
