‘Illegal rave’ of lasers, drones and 200 revellers at Netflix fort crashed by police

An ‘illegal rave’ at a Netflix filming hotspot was crashed by police on Sunday morning.

Around 200 revellers partied with banging tunes, flashy lasers and buzzing drones at Liverpool Castle in Rivington Pike, Lancashire on Saturday night.

The crumbling folly, famed for its spooky vibes on Netflix shows, had locals up in arms over the racket and light show that kept them awake till the early hours of this morning..

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to Rivington Lane, Rivington, at 1.18am today (27th October) following multiple calls about an illegal rave.

“Our officers attended and found around 200 people present, as well as loud music, lights, lasers and drones. Although the majority of people dispersed when our officers arrived, we dispersed those who remained from the area.

“Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug driving and remain in custody at this time. They are a 21-year-old man from Burnley and a 34-year-old man from Stockport.

One resident, who was disturbed by the noise, said: “Members of Horwich Clean Up Brigade mobilised to launch an urgent clean up operation, removing several bags of rubbish which were left at the site.

Liverpool Castle in Rivington was built in 1912 as a folly for Sir William Lever. It has appeared as a location for TV shows such as Netflix thriller Fool Me Once.

The folly is a popular point of interest on the Lever Park Estate, which also boasts the Terraced Gardens and Pigeon Tower.
