UK’s greatest man cave destroyed – after clashes over Bentley, CCTV and jail time period

The man who built the world’s biggest ‘man cave’ was forced to tear it down after he was jailed.

A long row broke out over the concrete ‘eyesore’, which caused irritation to his neighbours. Graham Wildin, 72, built the huge structure in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, back in 2014.

The ‘man cave’ resembles a full-on activity centre, complete with a cinema, casino room, bowling alley and even squash courts. While the building is impressive from the inside, neighbours were angry at the size and look of it.

The building covered thousands of square feet and was made from an unattractive concrete. Thus, a planning debate ensued which left Wildin in some legal issues.

The millionaire business man was given six weeks in jail after he failed to comply with a court order in relation to planning permissions. Neighbours complained even more when Wildin started displaying something else in the streets around his property.

Wildin parked his lavish sports cars around the streets. He owns a huge collection, which included a Range Rover, a Bentley Turbo and a yellow Jensen-Healery Sportster. The business man even placed several CCTV cameras around the area to watch over his vehicles.

He slapped his neighbours and passersby with unofficial parking fines if they blocked his driveway. After complaints, the parking situation made it to court in 2023, where the judge granted an injunction which limited the amount of cars he could park on the street.

Wildin was told he could only park two cars, plus two visitors, on the road at a time for a maximum of eight hours. Adding to this, he was ordered to take down the cameras and poles he had put up.

This was done in June, but since the council has gone after his ‘man cave’ and ordered the complete demolition. He was originally ordered to do this in April 2020, but he repeatedly ignored the injunctions.

His prison spell was a response to this, but the final deadline expired in January 2023. Demolition crews began work in May this year and the building is now gone, with just the structure remaining.

Locals were delighted, with one angry neighbour stating to the Sun: “It’s about time. We get a full view of it from here. Absolutely, I’m happy to see it go.”

The Forest of Dean District Council say the process is complete. “It is important to note that the cost of this process should not be borne by the taxpayer, and we are now working to recover the full cost of the demolition from the landowner.

“We would once again like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding during this process.”
