A practising witch who cast a love spell to conjure her husband now does magic to “get toxic people out of her life”.
Claire Brett, 45, says she cast a love spell on Halloween in 2021 to manifest her now-husband, Daren, 57, a forklift driver and a senior shop steward, in May 2022. The pair hit it off immediately and were engaged within seven months of dating and tied the knot in 2023 on a remarkably fitting day – Friday, October 13.
Despite casting a spell to meet her husband Claire says they don’t need any magic to keep their marriage alive. Instead, she says she’s been casting her spells to stop people gossiping about her and remove toxic people from her life.
Claire, a practising witch and business owner, from Snettisham, Norfolk, said: “I had some issues earlier this year and I thought: ‘Right, I want to stop people gossiping about me.’ I got hold of a chilli – I wrote the person’s name down on a piece of paper, put it in the chilli, got some Himalayan salt and black pepper, mixed them and put them in the chilli too. I wrapped it tight in the foil and put it in the fridge.
“I say if they mention my name they will get a burning sensation and since then I haven’t had any gossip said about me.”
Claire says she has done a spell for “everything and anything” – including to conjure happiness and money. She says she has used a freezer spell from time to time to remove toxic people from her life.
She said: “Say you have someone in your life and they turned toxic so you don’t want them. There are two things you can do – you can write their name on a piece of paper and flush it down the toilet – that will flush them out of your life.
“Another spell is to write their name on a piece of paper, get a water bottle and fill it up with water. Put it in the freezer and you leave it there until you are emotionally ready to deal with the situation.”
When it came to meeting her husband, Claire decided to take matters into her own hands. She wrote down everything she wanted from a partner on a piece of paper and slept with the note under her pillow.
Meanwhile, she burnt her self-made love “intention” candle and placed a mixture of herbs, plants and crystals in a glass jar.
Claire said: “You have to be really specific about what you want so I spent weeks perfecting exactly what I was going to write on that piece of paper. I decided I wanted someone caring, loving, compassionate, and empathetic.
“I have lots of pets – three dogs, three cats, two hens, one bird, and lots of fish – so I wanted someone who loves animals. I also needed someone who could cope with the fact that I’m disabled – and someone who could accept me for who I am, knowing I’m different to other people in society.”
Claire cast the love spell on Halloween in 2021 and met her now-husband Daren in May 2022. They tied the knot in late 2023 on Friday, October 13.
Claire said: “Anything and everything, anything you can think of, I have done a spell for it. I did a love spell to meet my soulmate and now I am happily married.
“I did an abundance spell, which can either be an abundance of happiness or money. It can be whatever you want it to be, whatever your intention is you will receive. I did that and then within four days we found the property where my workshop is.”
Despite using a spell to find her soulmate, Claire said she doesn’t need a spell to keep the love between her and Daren alive.
She said: “We are very happy as we are, I don’t feel like we need anything like that now. We are very happy and content with our relationship, however, he does joke that I have him under a spell to make him stay with me.”
