Manchester United fans have been sent into a frenzy after Xavi’s wife posted a picture of the football legend and his son.
The 44-year-old former Barcelona boss is currently without a club after leaving the Spanish giants last season. And he has been touted as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag due to United’s abysmal start to the new season.
Rumours are rife that Xavi has been approached by United for the managerial role. Fans believe the Spaniard may have hinted at accepting the position in an Instagram story shared by his wife on Sunday.
The picture shows Xavi and his son, who can be seen filling out a sticker book, while the youngster sports this season’s United home kit. And it’s given hope to fans of the fallen Premier League giants – currently slumped in 14th in the table, reports the Mirror.
Despite a seven-hour crisis meeting held by United’s top brass during the international break earlier this month, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, there was no change in management. However, this hasn’t stopped speculation over Ten Hag’s future, especially after United’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie O’Hara expressed post-match that enough was enough and that Ten Hag should be relieved of his duties, stating he would have made the decision to part ways back in the summer if it were up to him.
In a damning assessment, the former Spurs ace didnt hold back: “Nine games and in [United] are 14th in the table….come on, this is Man United. You can almost accept if they’re ninth, you know, [being] in the top half and it hasn’t quite happened. They’ve lost four games already this season – they’ve played nine.”
When quizzed about what he’d do in light of the poor results, he didn’t mince his words: “I’d get rid of him; I would have gotten rid of him three months ago. I wouldn’t have gave him a contract after the FA Cup, I’d have said, ‘Thanks very much, you’ve finished with a trophy, go out on a high’.”
To conclude, he underlined United’s disappointing performance: “They should have got something from the game today but overall they’ve been poor. I’ve watched them in the Europa League as well and they’ve been poor.”
