Manchester City midfielder Rodri may have won the Ballon d’Or last night but Mats Hummels and Nicola Cavanis were the centre of attention on the red carpet.
The German defender, who is a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, was nominated for the award and placed 29th. He attended the ceremony in Paris on Monday evening alongside his beautiful new girlfriend, who looked stunning in a figure-hugging dress.
The 35-year-old started dating Cavanis earlier this year despite the pair sharing a 10-year age gap. Nicola, 25, has a huge social media fanbase – although it’s still short of Hummels’ – with 1.9 million followers on Instagram. She hails from a village in Bavaria and often posts glamorous pictures online posing in bikinis and at star-studded events.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony was the couple’s first official event as a pair and sent social media into a frenzy with one user on X sharing a video of the pair saying “Mats Hummels wowza, good for you.” The comments came flooding in with another adding “How’s he done that then” and one saying “Mats Hummels has already won at life.”
Another fan said: “Hummels has already won as far as I am concerned.” And a fifth, commenting on her ample assets, added: “Two ballon D’ors right there.”
While Hummels is looking to get back into the game, he’s keeping his hands full with his gorgeous other half. Aside from her day job as a model for ‘Munich Models Germany’, Nicola appears to be a big sports fan with pictures of her attending Wimbledon and an NBA basketball game also appearing on her Instagram feed.
In an exclusive interview with German outlet Bild, she revealed that her modelling contract prevents her from getting a haircut unless she tells her employer and that she’s banned from getting any tattoos.
“I have to coordinate with them whether I can go to the hairdresser. I can’t just go on vacation, I have to cancel so that they can plan the appointments. I’m also not allowed to just get tattoos,” Nicola explained.
She’s a true German, enjoying a pint of beer even if it doesn’t go down well. “I like to drink beer, I come from a Bavarian village, where there were always beer festivals. But I have a wheat intolerance. I suffer from neurodermatitis – if I drink beer or eat ice cream, I get a rash,” she added.
