Carabao Cup quarter-final attract full as Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal study their destiny

The remaining eight sides in the Carabao Cup have learned their quarter-final fates.

Tottenham Hotspur, who defeated Manchester City, will take on Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Ange Postecoglou’s side beat City 2-1 in their round of 16 tie, whilst United dispatched Leicester City 5-2 at Old Trafford.

The second tie confirmed to be taking place is an all-London affair, with Arsenal welcoming Crystal Palace to the Emirates. The Gunners swept aside Preston North End 3-0.

Crystal Palace meanwhile defeated Aston Villa 2-1, with goals from Eberechi Eze and Daichi Kamada taking them through to the quarter-finals. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United will face off against Brentford at St James’ Park.

The Magpies dispatched Chelsea 2-0 just days after tasting defeat to the Blues at Stamford Bridge 2-1 in the Premier League while Brentford beat Sheffield Wednesday on penalties.

And in the final tie drawn live on Sky Sports, Southampton will play host to Arne Slot’s Liverpool. Russell Martin’s Saints beat Championship side Stoke 3-2 at St Mary’s, while Liverpool survived a late scare against Brighton & Hove Albion in their round of 16 tie.

The Reds went 3-0 up at the Amex against the Seagulls thanks to a brace from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz. However, late goals from Simon Adingra and Tariq Lamptey led to a nervy stoppage period for Slot’s side, who managed to hold on to book their place in the quarter-finals.
