Snooker stars ‘smack wall’ and launch object throughout bad-blooded sport

A Scottish Open qualifying match produced a bad-blooded clash between snooker pair Joe Perry and Antoni Kowalski.

Facing off on Tuesday, both Perry and Kowalski displayed moments of tremendous annoyance during the clash, with the former spotted hitting a wall and hitting an object out of frustration. Kowalski was also seen hitting his cue on the ground in anger after missing a shot too.

Kowalski’s moment of frustration came during the sixth frame, which is when he lost his cool. While leading 3-2, the Polish 20-year-old missed a routine bottom right pocket, causing him to take his anger out on his cue.

Kowalski shook his fist, let out a sigh before hitting his cue into the ground, immediately being met by the match referee who told him off. Meanwhile, Perry also found the time during the match to lose his cool too.

The 50-year-old was spotted smashing a wall in frustration following a Kowalski shot.

Another incident occurred at the end of the game too, which Kowalski won 4-3.

Once the game had ended, with Kowalski the victor, Perry could be seen in the top left hand corner of the Eurosport broadcast launching an object off his table by hitting it.

And it’s safe to say, the ill-fated match between the two left fans on social media shocked. One fan wrote on X of Perry: “Someone of his experience should be doing better to be honest, sure he’s had plenty of games where he’s had the run of the balls, it happens, needs to grow up.”

A second, who commented on Perry’s choice of words, added: “why would you do that, especially against a young inexperienced player. Unbelievable.”

A third posted: “Joe Perry vs Antoni Kowalski started as a game of snooker, but it was so long ago that by the end they appear to have forgotten the rules and think they’re playing a game of billiards instead.”

And the win for Kowalski means he will play at the Scottish Open next month.
