Ruben Amorim’s first recreation as Man Utd recreation ‘introduced’ as Sporting ‘agree deal’

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon to hire their manager Ruben Amorim.

After three days of negotiations, the Red Devils have finally secured a permanent replacement for Erik ten Hag with Amorim set to take charge of his first game away to Ipswich Town on November 24, according to The Athletic.

While the club wanted him sooner, Sporting insisted that he remain in place for their next three games, including a clash against Manchester City in the Champions League next week.

United were happy to comply to ensure a smooth exit, with Ruud van Nistelrooy a capable interim for the next three games against Chelsea, Bodo/Glimt and Leicester City.

Amorim had a €10million release clause in his contract but the sticking point came over compensation for his backroom staff and a 30-day notice period. INEOS agreed to an extra €1 million so that he can begin work during the international break ahead of the trip to Portman Road.

Conversations over a deal to allow his coaching team to leave are still ongoing with Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido, and Carlos Fernandes all earmarked. Amorim’s imminent arrival will bring to an end a long-running saga over the managerial position at Old Trafford.

For the best part of a year speculation over Ten Hag’s future was rife, particularly when the club appointed a new Chief Executive and Director of Football.

United had initially decided to explore other options in the summer but ended up offering their now-former boss an improved deal following their FA Cup victory over Manchester City.

The decision could come back to haunt them though with the Dutchman expecting major compensation after being relieved of his duties after just nine games. However, it’s a hit they needed to take after a disastrous start to the season with just three league victories.

United have shown conviction in moving for Amorim at pace highlighting the change in structure at the very top of the football club. In the past, they would have stuck with Van Nistelrooy until the end of the season and maybe appointed him permanently after a run of victories.

But this time they’ve identified a highly sought-after coach with a clear style suitable to the current group of players.
