Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson suffers new blow as ‘large change’ made weeks earlier than combat

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s upcoming boxing clash has suffered a fresh blow with ticket prices plummeting.

The rescheduled bout is due to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 15, after being postponed in July due to ‘Iron Mike’ falling ill with a stomach ulcer. Despite the high-profile status of both fighters, tickets are now being sold at an alarming discount.

Events of this scale usually see a rise in ticket prices, but promoters have instead slashed the cost of hundreds of seats, with some going for as little as $30 according to MMA Junkie. With the stadium’s capacity exceeding 80,000, it is a major setback in the lead up to fight night.

A sell-out crowd was anticipated, but now, with only two weeks until the bout, Seat Geek has listed tickets for $37, while others on StubHub are available for $52 – considerably less than expected. Ringside tickets, however, continue to command a hefty price, with the going rate over $50,000.

The same arena has hosted colossal fights in the past between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Pacquiao, and Canelo Alvarez against Liam Smith and Billy Joe Saunders, drawing crowds of 51,000 and 73,000 for the latter two fights.

Revealing his boxing strategy ahead of the bout, Paul said: “To just box on the outside and then use my footwork to be more agile and get him chasing me and then attack him when he’s out of position. That should frustrate him.”

Tyson didn’t hesitate to fire back, saying: “[It will last] Not long, as soon as I catch him, because he’s going to run like a thief. I don’t see how he’s going to make an exciting fight by running all day.

“He’s supposed to be the young guy, he’s supposed to run right through me… I’m an old man and he’s going to run all f***ing night?!”
