Major excessive avenue pharmacy to shut one other department as 300 to close earlier than finish of 2024

A major high street pharmacy brand is shutting another store as it plans to close 300 by the end of the year. It’s been a tough year for Boots and its staff, after it made a pledge at the start of 2024 to carry our mass store closures.

And now another one is on the way out after the final trading date of a branch in Croydon was announced. The branch at 1 Central Parade in New Addington will cease to exist on December, which is the only branch of the chain in the area. The move is part of the company’s 2019 Boots Transformation plan, which has so far seen 581 stores closed in five years – although they still have around 1,900 in total.

A spokesperson for Boots parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance previously said: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”

Users on Google Reviews will seemingly miss the branch, with one gushing a five star review raving over the service provided.

It states: “For a very small branch the staff provide a greater service than many realise. All diligently carried out in surroundings that could benefit tremendously from a face lift. At times tremendously busy yet still the staff maintain composure and do their upmost to care for the local community.”

And another added: “Great little place. The site is small and busy but the staff are delightful. Always make me feel at ease. They give great advice and are caring whist still being professional. Due to the number of people that use the store and the limited staff numbers, there’s sometimes a queue, but this is the only negative comment I can make.

“I’ve now made this my regular pharmacy due to the service from the staff I’ve interacted with. It’s a shame all the other Boots stores don’t have staff like this one. Well done.”
