Liverpool undergo extra damage woes as star limps off in a makeshift sling towards Brighton

Liverpool’s injury woes continued on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds had welcomed Brighton to Anfield – but after a slow start, Arne Slot’s side found themselves behind in the opening half hour. And it only went from bad to worse for the Dutchman when Ibrahima Konate was spotted leaving the pitch in a sling.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred Konate, but Konate was seen hobbling off using his kit as a makeshift sling to support the injury. It’s the latest blow for Liverpool who have a long list of absentees.

Slot is already without Alisson, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa until after the November international break. Konate has emerged as a key player under Slot, playing every Premier League game for Liverpool since he came on at half-time in the opening match of the season against Ipswich Town.

Joe Gomez was subbed on to replace his injured team-mate.

Speaking earlier this week about Konate, Slot said: “He doesn’t always get the attention he deserves, in my opinion. He’s asking to be the Man of the Match all the time, but he’s coming closer and closer and closer to achieving that because I think he had a great performance today as well.”

He continued: “The only thing I know is that these players, from the moment that I stepped in, put a lot of effort in themselves to stay fit.

“I said it many times, our performance staff and medical staff is one of the best in the world – which is normal if you are in Liverpool because it’s one of the best clubs in the world, they should have a very good performance and medical staff, and that’s also what we have.”
