Guglielmo Vicario instructed he should be ex-Man Utd star’s ‘son’ as Spurs keeper ‘ineffective’ vs Aston Villa

Football supporters on social media have branded Guglielmo Vicario “useless” after watching the Spurs keeper fail to deal with a corner leading to an Aston Villa goal.

The Italian, who has come under scrutiny for his handling of set-pieces had just seconds prior produced a superb save from Villa midfielder Amadou Onana, diving low down to his left to prevent the Belgian from scoring a header. However, seconds later, he went from hero to zero, floundering at the ensuing corner which resulted in Morgan Rogers blasting the ball into the Spurs net.

Before the corner, Rogers was jostling inside the six yard box with Vicario, but disengaged with the ball coming into the box. And from there, the Italian failed to deal with the corner, leading to Villa opening the scoring.

And after seeing the incident, football fans on social have blasted Vicario as “useless”, while also labelling him as ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea’s son.

“Vicario during corners is arguably the very worst keeper of all time,” wrote one fan on X. A second added: “You are never going to be a top side with Vicario in goal.”

A fourth said: “Vicario is a c*** version of DDG, he’s so timid when it comes to corners.” A fifth said: “Vicario on corners is the funniest sight. It’s like watching De Gea’s son.”

And a sixth commented: “Vicario is easily the single biggest liability in the PL. Hilarious.”
