Snake oil salesmen Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are a couple of plastic patriots who must really hate Britain by championing Donald Trump after orchestrating the Brexit calamity.
The double betrayal of the UK national interest by these egotistical Right-whingers, should Trump beat Kamala Harris this week, would inflict a second deep wound on our country but boost their own bank accounts.
Trade wars, gift-wrapping Ukraine for Putin and trashing Nato are high on the economic, political and military horrors that Trump threatens to unleash with his contempt for democracies and allies and fondness for authoritarian regimes around the globe.
The flag Johnson and Farage wave isn’t the red, white and blue of the Union Jack but the tattered stars and strikes of a reactionary nationalist Make America – not Britain, AMERICA – Great Again rabble. Brexit campaign figureheads who inflicted economic damage that’ll top £100-billion, cutting 4% from growth with a 15% trade hit plus migration rising not falling, would hurt Britain again with their fan boyism.

Disgraced liar Johnson, thrilled when the attempted coup chief dubbed him “Britain Trump”, displays the trademark consistency of a wonky supermarket trolley after banging the world drum for Volodymyr Zelensky then endorsing his second worst enemy next to Putin.
Britons prefer Harris over Trump, a poll today finding 47% believe she winning the US presidency would be the best outcome for the UK over 27% for him. Yet Trump has other supporters on the Brexit Right of the Conservative Party in Jacob Rees-Mogg, Suella Braverman, Kwasi Kwarteng, David Frost and Andrea Jenkyns.

Desperate Liz Truss too and a Robert Jenrick beaten to the Tory crown, 2016 Remainers who converted to Brexism with the zeal of unhinged converts.
But it is Johnson and Farage who compete to whisper in a Trump ear nicked by an assassin, preparing to drip poison against Keir Starmer and the UK Labour Government.
“Nigel Farage is a friend of mine. Boris is a friend of mine,” Trump gushed in 2019 ahead of visiting Britain.
With friends like them, Britain has enemies.
