‘Reckless’ vacationer blasted for diving into floodwater at Spanish Brit hotspot after catastrophe

A tourist in a Brit hotspot in Spain has been branded ‘reckless’ for diving into floodwater after heavy rain battered the country, killing hundreds.

The bloke was caught on camera taking a running jump into rushing water on the streets of Benidorm, after the resort town’s roads were “transformed into rivers,” according to Travel and Tour World.

The topless man’s mates cheer him on as he barrel rolls over a struggling drain, and the video has since sparked conversation over the ‘recklessness’ of the act.

It comes after rain hit parts of Spain, including Benidorm – flooding streets, submerging vehicles, overflowing drainage systems and sadly leaving around 200 dead nationally, according to reports.

One bar owner called Frank said the raging waters came “out of nowhere” and caught locals by surprise.

And it comes after two elderly Brits who died after the floods hit Valencia have been identified by their heartbroken daughter.

Ruth O’Loughlin, from Burntwood, Staffordshire, confirmed that the bodies of her parents, 78-year-old Don Turner and his wife Terry, 74, were found in their car after flooding hit Valencia on Tuesday (October 29). Intense rainfall in the Spanish region has caused several feet worth of water to pool on city streets.

Mr and Mrs Turner are among three Brits confirmed to have been killed, with a local mayor announcing that their bodies were discovered over the weekend. Andoni Leon, the mayor of Pedralba, confirmed on Sunday (November 3) that local volunteers had found the bodies in the small town, which is around 45 minutes from Valencia.

Last week it was revealed a British 71-year-old had died in hospital after being rescued by boat from his flooded home on the outskirts of Alhaurin de la Torre near Malaga.

Ms O’Loughlin said her parents, who “always wanted to live in the sunshine”, moved to Spain around 10 years ago, and died after the two had told friends they were “popping out” to get gas. They were found to have gone missing after friends went to check on them and found their pets at home.
