Patrice Evra pretended to walk off set when asked about ‘showering’ with P Diddy.
The former French footballer was on a podcast when the comedian host asked him an awkward and unexpected question.
Evra was speaking about his early struggles at Manchester United when him and Nemanja Vidic struggled to settle into the team
Asked by Shane Todd whether he knew he would turn it around on his Tea With Me podcast, Evra said: “No, you have some doubt but I never give up.
“But in one moment I remember me and Vidic, we play with the reserve team, and we get subbed after 45 minutes.
“So we were in the shower together… it sounds wrong.”
Laughing ensued before people in the background could be heard mentioning troubled music mogul P Diddy who was arrested in September on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Evra said to the host: “You see where it is going guys?”
Trying to get his story back on track, he said: “We were in the shower, yeah, then Vidic was like…”
However, at that moment Todd interrupted and asked: “With Diddy or not with Diddy?”
Evra, rising from his chair to shake hands with Todd and walk off, replied: “Ok nice to meet you, have a good day guys.”
After the banter calmed down, he described how he and his teammate eventually became legends at the club.
And if you are wondering why he was questioned about Diddy, it was likely to do with an odd meeting with the musician that prompted an angry response from Alex Ferguson.
The boss was preparing his Red Devils for a Champions League game in Copenhagen in 2006 when the ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ singer rocked up.
He was in town for the MTV European Music Awards and the bizarre encounter was reportedly orchestrated by Rio Ferdinand.
The defender shared a throwback picture four years ago and said: “I always kept the boss up to speed with the R&B/Hip Hop scene. I know he always appreciated that!! Happy Birthday Boss. #Legend #Diddy”
United ended up losing the group stage match 1-0 and Ferguson later revealed in his autobiography that he warned Ferdinand to stop getting distracted by off-field interests.
And expressing his frustration about his player’s plan to interview P Diddy, Fergie fumed: “Give me a break RIo, is he going to make you a better centre half?”
Rio was once asked what it was like interviewing 50 Cent and P Diddy and he replied: “I got the idea they were both more interested in business than hip-hop. These guys haven’t got to where they are just with hit songs, a lot of what they do is calculated. ”
Diddy just celebrated his 55th birthday inside the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, where his children called him to wish him the best.
He denies all allegations against him and he is expected to stay behind bars until his trial starts, which isn’t expected until next May.
