Man Utd icon urges Ruben Amorim to maintain Ruud van Nistelrooy on the Red Devils

Gary Pallister has urged incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim to keep Ruud Van Nistelrooy on his coaching staff.

Van Nistelrooy has been in caretaker charge of United since Erik ten Hag was sacked last week. But he will step aside when Amorim starts his new job with United on Monday.

Amorim waved goodbye to Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday evening with a thumping 4-1 victory over the Red Devils’ bitter rivals Manchester City. Howeve, Amorim is still yet to decided on his coaching team when he rocks up at Old Trafford next week.

Van Nistelrooy insists he wants to be part of the new management set up moving forward. He will hold talks with Amorim to see if there is still a role for him.

And Pallister would like to see the former United striker kept on Pallister told Luckblock.com: “My advice to Rúben Amorim would be to keep Ruud van Nistelrooy in the setup as it could be beneficial to him.

“He understands the club and knows the ins and outs of it really well. So he’ll have the knowledge that other coaches coming in from the outside won’t. The fans love him too – you can tell that by the way they reacted to him becoming interim manager.

“Ultimately, it’s down to Amorim though. If he feels that he needs a clean cut and that it should just be his staff, then that’s his decision. Having said that, I think it would be a good thing to have somebody who really understands Manchester United and Old Trafford.”
