Newsreader has on-air meltdown as she manufacturers a state ‘right-wing fascist-types’

A news anchor sparked controversy after a public meltdown on live TV after Florida failed to pass an abortion amendment in the US election.

MSNBC host Joy Reid raged against the Southern state, which Donald Trump went on to win. Reid suggested Florida had turned into an “extremist right-wing, fascist type government,” while railing against the failure of the Amendment 4 ballot measure, a ruling that would see abortion rights enshrined into the state’s constitution.

“It’s a pure Project 2025 in miniature in Florida,” said Reid while on an MSNBC election night panel. “That kind of extremist right-wing, fascist-type government in Florida — does that make it a more attractive place — or does it make it more like some of the other southern states that don’t get investment?”

The anchor branded Florida an ‘extremist right-wing fascist’ state

Reid then turned on Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis, who she said “has put everything on trying to ensure Florida will buck the trend of every other state – including red states – that have passed on the right to bodily autonomy.

“He’s put everything on it. And used, as you said, threats – whatever it takes to make sure that amendment fails using the power of government in a way that is, I would say, fascist and very determined.”

Donald Trump seems to be carving out a clear route back to the White House as Republicans bolster their voter share across US counties.

Polling stations along the East Coast were the first to shut their doors at 7pm EST (11pm GMT), with Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Virginia and Vermont trailing close behind at 8pm.

Trump’s supporters began to swell with confidence as the Republican widened his victory margin in key states like Florida.
