- Tyson was nervous he may die from the ulcer the doctors found earlier this year
- Tyson explained how he was throwing up blood and ‘defecating tar’ on the plane
- The 58-year-old will return to the ring next weekend to fight Jake Paul in Texas
Mike Tyson has revealed how he threw up blood before passing out during the medical emergency that postponed the initial date for his fight with Jake Paul.
The 58-year-old became nauseous and dizzy on a flight from Miami to LA earlier this year, forcing airline staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board.
Paramedics later boarded the plane to treat Tyson after it had touched down in Los Angeles – with Iron Mike stating he was ‘defecating tar’.
Tyson was taken straight to hospital and treated by a series of doctors, who refused to rule out of the possibility of death, according to Iron Mike.
During Netflix‘s docu-series in the build up to Tyson’s fight with Paul, the 58-year-old explained how the doctors had found a two and a half inch ulcer.

Tyson said: ‘A week and a half ago I was training and I was doing great. Then I started feeling tired. I was explaining to my trainer, I don’t know what is wrong with me.
‘Then coming here from Miami on the plane, I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood. The next thing I knew I was on the floor. I was defecating tar.
‘I went to the hospital and they found I had an ulcer. It was two and a half inches, it was bleeding. All my friends were calling me like I was dying.
‘I asked the doctor whether I was going to die and she didn’t say no. She said we have options though. That’s when I got nervous.’
Iron Mike finished by saying: ‘I just wanted to get out of that f***ing hospital bed. I don’t want to die in a hospital bed. I want to die in the ring. ‘
Meanwhile, the doctor who was filmed attending to Tyson at the hospital could be heard saying: ‘Exercise wise, I would take it slow’.
The fight between Tyson and Paul was due to take place in July, but just two months after the bout was announced, the two men were forced to postpone proceedings.
Mike’ suffered a medical scare in May which derailed the showdown in Texas. However, a new date of November 15 was later agreed.
But, fans remained concerned about Tyson’s health given he will be 58 when the fight takes place at the AT&T Stadium – the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
They were hoping the Texas Licensing Regulators would monitor Tyson closely before the bout takes place next weekend.
However, the Texas Licensing Regulators will not assess Tyson again until the day before the fight takes place.
Therefore, there is a high risk that the bout could be cancelled just 24 hours before Iron Mike is set to step back into the ring.
The result of the assessment could see the fight be downgraded from a professional one to an exhibition or even cancelled.
However, Tyson is confident the bout will go ahead as planned and insists he is ready to dismantle Paul despite suffering a medical emergency earlier this year.

Paramedics boarded the plane, which had already been delayed by two hours in Miami because of the heat, once it touched down in Los Angeles to give treatment.

Tyson admitted he uses marijuana daily but has given the drug up while training to fight Paul
The incident came just two months before the boxing legend was initially due to fight the YouTuber-turned-boxer in Arlington.
Tyson has given marijuana up while training to fight Paul because it is on the list of banned substances used by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
He also revealed he’s given up sex temporarily as part of his training regime to ensure he is at his most dangerous on fight night.
‘He only stopped as a means of following all of the rules,’ his publicist Joann Mignano recently told USA TODAY Sports.
‘But he is still a strong advocate for the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and others like him.’’
