Woman, in her 20s, ‘raped by stranger in alleyway near main college’ – as man, 21, is arrested

A woman in her 20s was raped by a stranger in an alleyway close to a primary school.

She was allegedly lured into the lane leading into a south London park minutes after meeting the man at 4pm.

A man, 21, has now been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody.

The alleyway leads into King George’s Park, in Wandsworth, and sits next to a children’s nursery.

It also includes tennis courts, play areas and football pitches.

The Met Police said that they were alerted to reports of a sexual assault at 4pm on Monday.

They said that enquiries are ongoing. 

A spokesperson said: ‘At approximately 16:00 hrs on Monday, 4 November, police received a report of a sexual assault at an alleyway into King George’s Park, SW18.

‘The victim, aged 20s, had been sexually assaulted by a male she met earlier. She is being supported by specialist officers.

‘A crime scene remains in place.

‘A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape. Enquiries are ongoing.

‘Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting CAD7123/4NOV.’
