A former Millwall hooligan revealed he once fought for a rival London firm.
Ginger Bob was reliving his so-called glory days of causing chaos on the terraces when he spoke about clashing with Galatasaray fans. But after listening to the story, some social media users compared him to renowned waffler Jay Cartwright from The Inbetweeners.
Asked on the Anything Goes with James English podcast whether he ever had a “tear up” for other firms, the hardman was quick to respond.
“I’ve been over to Chelsea a few times,” he said. “I was over there in 2014 and they were playing Galatasaray. My mate who has passed away now, one of their main guys, passed away in 15, we come out and we were walking down the Fulham road and all the Turkish guys we were going bang bang bang like that.”
For the benefit of readers, Ginger Bob performed shadow boxing moves while describing the bangs.
Continuing, he said: “We got to the ground and he said ‘Bob I feel ill I’ve got to go home’ so I’m still there and next thing you’ve got 50 of their main boys outside the away turnstiles, Galatasaray.
“Now I’m not even a Chelsea supporter, so I am with this guy, stocky guy, we’ve gone forward and backed a couple of them, two of us, and we pushed them back, ran them, and the other Chelsea lot were behind us.”
He then concluded the story by talking about an interaction with a “silly” police officer who had the audacity to ask him why he was at the match.
“There’s a police officer,” he said. “He’s one of these long term guys, 6ft6 sergeant, and the police ask these silly questions. You think they got half a brain. Now he come up to me cause he does Brentford, Fulham, Chelsea and QPR.
“He said to me ‘what are you doing up here’ because he knows I’m Millwall and I said ‘you know the way it is guvnor, my wife is a Chelsea supporter. I’ve just come over to get a couple of programmes.’ So he goes ‘go one f*** off’.
“Silly question, what are you doing here… he knows what I’m doing over here.”
Ginger Bob started brawling on the streets from an early age and he became a leading member of Millwall’s Bushwacker firm.
He claimed to have been a member of the infamous gang since he was 11 and he also told James English how he was seconds away from death in a brutal axe attack.
But after English posted a clip of the Chelsea story on TikTok, one person replied: “Jay Cartwright all day long.”
Another said “Jay from The Inbetweeners’ dad right there” while a third added: “Chelsea and Millwall are very close.”
