Stuart Hogg’s glam secret ex-lover, 48, says she ‘no thought’ about rugby star’s double life

The ex-lover of rugby player Stuart Hogg has shared some ‘worrying’ revelations after claiming he led a double life.

The former Scotland captain is claimed to have led a double life by ex-girlfriend of three years Jilly O’Donnell. She alleges the 32-year-old pretended to be unhappily married while he was seeing her – she says she only found out how involved he still was when he did a TV interview revealing he and his wife were expecting a fourth child.

On November 4, the Montpellier fullback pleaded guilty to the domestic abuse of the now-estranged mother of his children, Gillian. Were it to have gone to trial, he would also have faced a charge for subjecting Geordie-born mum-of-three Jilly to hundreds of messages and phone calls.

The family man is said to have unleashed the bombardment on the 47-year-old, despite her begging him to stop. Jilly has now spoken out, citing fear that other women may too have suffered at the hands of Hogg.

She says she met him during his time playing for Exeter when he began liking her pictures on Instagram over the pandemic – something she said left her flattered after receiving the attention of a man 15 years her junior.

According to the Mirror, the student nurse said: “His actions and behaviour have caused so much hurt and anger to so many women. He knows that but somehow, he will still end up being the victim.”

She continued: “We confided in each other, became best friends. He became everything to me. He would often tell me he liked that we had skin-on-skin contact, he missed that contact with another human being. […] I had no reason to believe he had anyone else to go home to and that he was still happily married. I was naive.”

She said that in April last year, the pair parted ways romantically when he and Gillian returned to Hawick in the Scottish Borders. However, she claimed he had told her that the couple were all but separated and were only living together for the benefit of their children.

After she saw the interview announcing the anticipation of a new child, she told him to return to his family, despite him reportedly trying to convince her there was a future together for the pair of them.

Jilly said: “I was so shocked, I had no idea. We had been seeing each other plenty of times before he had moved. But he told me, ‘you know what I’m like when I’m drunk’ and said he wouldn’t put me through all this if he didn’t think we had a future and wanted to be with me.”

It is understood that contact was severed when he began his relationship with his current partner and jockey and presenter Leonna Mayor.

Jilly was reportedly interviewed as a witness as part of the police investigation, which after looking at the pair’s correspondence, brought a charge against him for a course of conduct which caused her fear or alarm between April 2023 and August 2024.

Six charges were filed against Hogg from January 2017 to July 2024 – one was against Jilly between April 2023 and August this year.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court, in the Borders, he pleaded guilty to one single charge of abusing Gillian between 2019 and 2024.

He admitted shouting and swearing at Gillian and, after they had split in 2023, sent her over 200 messages within the space of just a few hours.
