It’s not often you can see into the future – but that might be true for Liverpool fans.
If some Redmen want a glimpse at what their Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson could look like in 15 years all the have to do is look a Premier League cult hero Boaz Myhill.
Myhill, who turns 42 on Saturday (November 9), had Liverpool fans double checking their phones when West Brom wished him a happy birthday in 2023. As is customary, the Baggies wished their former first-team player happy returns on X (formerly Twitter).
The post was picked up by Liverpool fans, who reckon he is a dead ringer for Alisson, albeit in a few years. “Why is he Alisson 15 years from now?” asked one quizzical supporter. Another said: “This is simply just Alisson during the off season.”
A third quipped: “This is Alisson during the summer break, that fella loves a barbecue.”
Alisson has suffered a tough season this time out – and he hasn’t featured between the sticks since suffering a hamstring issue in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the start of October.
At the time of the injury, it was anticipated that Alisson would be back for the Reds’ trip to face Southampton on November 24. Since the injury, Slot hasn’t provided constant updates.
But in his latest update on the Brazilian, Slot admitted he could make that date: “I think I said it already a few times that it is always difficult to tell you exactly when they are ready because especially the last phase of the recovery can always be a few days extra or less.
“The fact is that they are not there before the international break and let’s see if they can join us after.”
