Tesco staffers are raging ahead of the Christmas rush – and have named the one thing that always sells out. With chaos already being reported over delivery slots, many people claiming to be staff have taken to Reddit to vent their frustrations about issues that crop up ever year.
And although the treat on the social media site is more of a supportive one for once, there are some pretty random tales of what has happened inside the blue and white aisles over the years during the festive period.
One staffer – or someone claiming to be a staffer – wrote: “I work on the shop-floor, and sometimes I get stuck at the top of aisle three because its too full for me to go down. I just take those minutes to reflect on all of my life decisions – It’s actually quite relaxing. Like a little mental and physical break.”
In reply, one wrote: “the standing at the top of the aisle and reflecting is so real. i tend to lean on my dollie/ cage as well and just ponder how I ended up here.” Talk quickly turned to what item sells out faster than others, with one claiming: “It’s always the damn milk. No milk out yet people keep cramming down the aisle and spinning in circles wondering where has all the milk gone.”
And another said: “Primary department is dairy, secondary is bread and produce. be so honest am I cooked for this season.” The fuming hoard of staff then turned their attention to what date it gets chaotic in-store – and it’s far sooner than you might think.
Going into great detail, one posted: “For me, Christmas starts on December 1, when I’m accused, for the sixth year running of ruining some poor child’s Christmas because the parent hasn’t bought an advent calendar in time. It progressively gets worse as more and more things launch.
“Produce veg prices get slashed, and the deliveries are coming so thick and fast you end up storing milk outside as there’s no room for anything anywhere. It all boils down to Christmas week.
“The biggest and busiest week of Tesco’s calendar year. Fresh turkey arrives on the morning of the 20th. Anything and everything Christmas related is usually rushed out of the warehouse doors in a last ditch attempt to get rid of everything before Christmas Eve.”
The rant continues: “On the Eve itself, be prepared for the worst evening of your life as everyone and their mother descends on your store to pick things up last minute that they forgot to buy. Reductions will be hauled out, two days worth as the shop is shut on the 25th, and you can say goodbye to another Christmas when you’ve clocked out.”
Sounds fun . . .
