‘I gained EuroMillions jackpot however reside like I did not – I’ll all the time store for bargains’

A woman who nabbed a massive £1million lottery jackpot has revealed that she still goes shopping for bargains.

Ceri Roberts locked down the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker draw alongside her husband Paul. They used the money to buy their dream home Llanberis, Gwynedd, but despite saying that the money was “life changing,” have revealed they still look to get good value when they head out to the shops.

Ex-nurse Ceri won the cash prize in November 2023, and since then the family has been able to breathe a sigh of relief, no longer stressing about getting to “the end of the month when all the direct debits and bills go out”.

But, she added: “I still don’t go shopping to one place if I know it’s cheaper somewhere else. I don’t think that will ever change.”

She joins a list of 408 people who have won the EuroMillions in Wales since it started 30 years ago in 1994.

In a surreal moment, Paul is understood to have phoned the claims line while watching the one of the couple’s kids play a game of football.

Ceri continued: “Nobody had scored a goal but our car was shaking,” she said. “The kids were in the back wailing and me and my husband were crying in the front.”

Even more surreal than the moment the moment they called the claims line, was seeing the huge of sum of cash sitting in their bank account.

In fact, she said she was so overcome by it that she was rendered unable to actually spend any of it for a solid six weeks.

Finally, after putting it off for so long, the BBC reports she finally bought herself a car, because, “I didn’t own a car at that time, I was borrowing one”.
