Christmas has come early for fans of Christina Milian as the Noughties pop icon has starred in a new festive film, which debuted as the number-one film on Netflix

The American singer, 43, rose to fame in 2001 when she released her self-titled debut album featuring singles such as AM to PM and When You Look at Me.

And 23 years later the star looks as if she hasn’t aged a day as she swapped her tunes for tinsel, leading the cast of Meet Me Next Christmas.

The film, which was released on November 6, has been watched a whopping 18,100,000 times and was officially crowned the number-one film globally on Netflix today, November 14. 

The fresh-faced performer took to her Instagram to celebrate the achievement, posting: ‘Because of you. Thank you for watching.’

During its first five days on the streaming platform, the film raked in views and surged to number one in the US and France just 24 hours after its release. 

Christina has been enjoying a successful acting career alongside her musical hits for years now. 

She has appeared in films such as Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Be Cool, Man of the House and took the lead in Bring It On: Fight To The Finish. 

In Meet Me Next Christmas, Christina stars as Layla, a hopeless romantic on a quest to meet the man of her dreams as she races across New York City to find a ticket to a sold-out Pentatonix Christmas concert. 

However, this is not the first time she has starred in a Christmas movie, as one fan dubbed the star ‘the Mariah Carey of Christmas movies, all of them are good,’ in the comments. 

She has previously starred in 2010’s Christmas Cupid with Chad Michael Murray, A Snow Globe Christmas in 2013 and Memories of Christmas in 2018. 

Other fans also took to the comments to express their excitement at Christina starring in another film. 

One person wrote: ‘Absolutely loved this Christmas movie.’; ‘I loved it. It was a super cute love story.’; ‘It’s so sweet, bringing all the holidays vibes!’

It joins Netflix’s other Christmas films for 2024 – Hot Frosty, where the famous snowman now has abs and is courting Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert, and Lindsay Lohan’s Our Little Secret about acrimonious exes forced to spend the festive period together.

Christina, who also recorded the theme song to childhood staple Disney cartoon Kim Possible, was previously married to record producer and singer The Dream, 47, in September 2009. 

The couple welcomed their daughter Violet in February 2010, by which time they were already separated.
