Premier League ref David Coote had just two words to say when asked to comment on his recent suspension.
The Nottinghamshire official is under the microscope by PGMOL after he was allegedly caught on video during the pandemic slagging off Liverpool as “s***” and calling their then-boss Jurgen Klopp a “German c***”. Just days following his suspension on Friday, November 15, Coote was approached at his home by a Nottinghamshire Live journalist.
Standing at the door of his quaint semi in a village near Newark-on-Trent, Coote, donning casual gear, made it crystal clear he wasn’t up for a chat. Before the reporter could even ask a question, Coote shut it down with an “absolutely not” and promptly closed the door on his modest abode.
Nottinghamshire Live has not revealed the name of the village where Coote lives.
Having officiated in the top flight for six years, Coote’s career is now hanging by a thread thanks to viral videos, including the one where he’s seen making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and Klopp, and another that appears to show him snorting a white powder while at UEFA Euro 2024.
European football’s governing body, UEFA, has launched a probe into the referee, while the PGMOL said: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
