I used to be engaged to the world’s most well-known sperm donor but it surely was a nightmare

A contestant on the reality dating TV series 90 Day Fiancé has lifted the lid on her experience while engaged to the world’s most famous sperm donor.

Kyle Gordy, 32, from LA, is known for being the biological father to 80 children (and counting) around the world.

And while he’s popular with women for his services, he hasn’t had much luck with them when it comes to dating.

That was until he met Annika Phillips, 39, from Germany, after she got in touch with him to enquire about his services, and their love story appeared on a series of 90 Day Fiancé this year.

The pair hit it off at first, but after a few weeks in paradise, they called it quits – and now, she’s revealing how their short-lived engagement was a ‘nightmare’.

‘He’s a good guy, but he lacks relationship experience. He doesn’t seem to realise basic courtesies, like opening doors or pulling out chairs for me,’ Annika said.

‘During a photoshoot by the seaside, he walked ahead and didn’t seem aware of anyone around him, even on rough paths. When the catering service arrived, he didn’t thank anyone.’

Annika said she was uncomfortable with how he treated people – although she conceded she didn’t believe he was being intentionally rude.

Annika, from Germany, said the pair’s short-lived engagement was a nightmare and that Kyle wouldn’t give up his sperm-donating ‘hobby’ for her

The programmer, from Germany, said the main reason she called off her engagement to Kyle was because he would not consider stopping donating sperm to other women.

‘He wanted to still help people conceive, either artificially or naturally, and that made it really difficult for us to move forward,’ she said.

‘It was a bit tough for me, because I often worried about being judged and we had quite a few arguments about his donating.

‘I knew deep down he couldn’t give it up. It was a nightmare from start to finish.’

Annika actually first started speaking with Kyle when she reached out to him on Instagram in early 2023, in search of his services.

But when she first spoke with him on a video call, she claims there was a ‘spark’.

‘We would often talk for hours at night before bed. It really helped me unwind from a stressful day and was something I looked forward to,’ Annika said.

‘After talking for a few months back and forth, I fell deeper for him. Initially, we planned to meet in Rome for a fun little vacation and baby making, but I got cold feet and flaked.

Annika first spoke with Kyle on a video call and she claims there was a ‘spark’: ‘We would often talk for hours at night before bed’.

‘After that moment, I realised there were feelings of love for him, and I expressed these. From there, we started talking on a deeper and more serious level.’

In June 2023, the pair met in person in Malta, and filmed their first official date for the show.

However, Kyle had been keeping a secret.

‘I thought we were in a committed relationship when I first met him in person but then he told me that as recently as the week before, he had performed an in-person insemination,’ Annika recalled.

‘I was disgusted and hurt. My feelings were crushed and I couldn’t believe he had essentially lied to me.’

At the end of filming, after around eight months of being engaged, they officially broke things off following a ‘huge fight’.

‘It was a bit tough for me, because I often worried about being judged and we had quite a few arguments about his donating. I knew deep down he couldn’t give it up,’ she said

A few months later, though, the pair started speaking again and now they’re good friends, focusing on being there for one another, even if it’s not romantic.

‘He’s helped me through some really difficult situations and has been so supportive. Kyle always makes sure he’s available when I need to talk, no matter the time of day,’ Annika said.

‘Since we’ve become friends, all I want is for him to be happy. I’m also trying to make him a better person for some potential girlfriend, as he seems to be very unlucky due to his difficult lifestyle.’

Annika said she wishes Kyle ‘all the best’ despite their relationship breakdown.

He also runs the website Be Pregnant Now and had taken a hiatus from donating late last year, before returning in January 2024 for only a ‘select few’ women.

Kyle, who currently has 15 children on the way, had previously revealed that his sex life was ‘non-existent’ due to his prolific sperm donation, and that even masturbation had become a ‘chore’.

While he claims to have given this up to ensure a healthy sperm count, he says he is looking for love again – though the right person would need to accept his controversial hobby.

The pair started speaking again and now they’re good friends. Annika is giving Kyle dating advice while he is offering his services for free in a bid to help struggling families conceive

‘My experience with Annika was definitely one I will remember. Although, I do think my manners were appropriate [when we first met],’ he said.

‘The time with her was fast-paced, so many of the things I did would be acceptable to most. Finding love is, of course, difficult due to my circumstances but I feel confident that it will happen.

‘Annika is helping me by giving me [dating] advice and we have even considered doing a shopping trip together to find more suitable clothes in the future.

‘It is unfortunate that we didn’t work out, but I value our friendship and appreciate the advice she gives me.’
