Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister ‘sued by ex-girlfriend’ he dumped for her finest pal

Alexis Mac Allister has spoken out about his ex-girlfriend filing a lawsuit against him.

The Liverpool midfielder is being sued by his former girlfriend, Camila Mayan, after he broke up with her just days after winning the World Cup with Argentina and started up a relationship with her childhood friend Ailen Cova.

Mayan is insisting she be paid financial compensation from Mac Allister for the years that they lived together abroad. The Argentine international moved to Brighton from Boca Juniors in 2019 and has been in England ever since.

The model has also accused him of being unfaithful with Cova, who is now his girlfriend, along with keeping her belongings. Speaking to journalists from his car ahead of Argentina’s game against Paraguay, the Reds star expressed his feelings on the situation, the Daily Mirror reports.

Mac Allister said: “There was no more relationship. She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it. As for the other thing (the lawsuit), everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting.”

The midfield ace, who has proven a key man for the Premier League leaders, added: “At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision, everything is fine and she is within her rights.”

The couple had been together for five years before they separated towards the end of 2022. This was before Liverpool bought him from Brighton for £35m. Even after the break up, Mayan’s Instagram was still filled with photos of Mac Allister.

It is believed the midfielder started dating current partner Cova just two months after the split. He believes Mayan consciously publicised their fallout, but he denies any accusations of cheating.

He continued: “I think it’s normal in a relationship; she made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or that she believes happened, but I know how things went and that’s why I’m very calm.”

The Liverpool star has also confirmed that he and Cova were “well, happy, building our life there in England, enjoying life together”.

However, with most lawsuits, things can get messy. Ignacio Trimarco, the lawyer representing Mayan, said earlier this year that she actually did not want to have things go public, claiming it was Mac Allister who chose to do that.

He spoke to ‘Intrusos’ (America TV) at the end of July and said: “The mediation is closed, but there was no agreement. The lawsuit has been filed for some time and the case started more than a year and a half ago.

“From our side nothing was said; it became known from the other side because Camila does not want to publicise this situation.

“What she asks for is confidential like any family case, but it is financial compensation. In this case [the amount requested by Mayan] will be determined by a judge based on the evidence presented.”

The amount requested was figured as a percentage of the income earned by Mac Allister during the time he was with her. The lawyer continued: “There is controversy with this law, but it is a law that has been passed by Congress and applies to all couples, whether they are with an idol like a world champion, or a businessman with business outside the country.

“This law has to do with protecting the weakest part of a couple that has not formalised a marriage. It is a law that applies and is in force and applies to anyone who has lived together for more than two years in a public, notorious and peaceful manner. Moreover, the claim has to be initiated within six months of the end of the relationship.”

The World Cup winners mother has also revealed her feelings on the matter saying: “We are handling it in the best way. We have answered the lawsuits and everything is on track. Everything is on track as it should be in the courts, as she herself said.”
