What Ruben Amorim informed Manchester United squad in first assembly as boss

Manchester United’s new boss, Ruben Amorim, has promised that the team will play “without fear” under his leadership and is committed to bringing the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.

In his first public address since taking over the reins at United, Amorim emphasised the importance of playing with courage and conviction, stating that no opponent should be feared.

The newly appointed head coach, who is anticipated to implement a three-at-the-back formation, stressed that enhancing the players’ mentality and character takes precedence over any tactical alterations. “We have to start from day one without fear, without thinking that they are not used to playing like this,” Amorim declared.

“They will start on the first day with our idea, no matter what. That’s the goal.”

He also acknowledged the club’s long-standing absence from Premier League glory, but insisted that Manchester United remains England’s most prestigious club. “A long time ago, we didn’t win the Premier League. But if you ask, Manchester United is the biggest club in England. This is part of history, it’s not now. So we have to address that, to show that and to try to win again.”

Amorim pledged his unwavering support for his squad, vowing to defend his players against all odds, reports the Mirror.

“I will do everything for the team. I will defend my players, all the time, against everybody. That’s a key point for me and I will try to do everything to put this club in the place that it belongs. And I believe a lot that we are going to succeed.”

Finally, he dismissed the notion of needing time due to the team’s youthfulness, asserting that the players are ready to meet the demands of playing for Manchester United. “I don’t want to say that we need time because we are a young team. They are prepared. They are prepared to cope with the demands of playing for Manchester United. They should be, because they are. They are here.”

The new boss stated: “We know it will take time and we will try to win time with the games. I think it’s important because a lot of people now talk about the 3-4-3 and the 4-3-3 and all that stuff.”

“But when I think as a player or as a team-mate of Manchester United, it is not a system of formation, it’s like the character of the players, the way they see the club.”

“I know it’s a massive challenge, but I feel quite relaxed. I feel at home and I think that is important in the beginning. So I’m very excited. We want to do something special in the special club.”

Amorim, 39, said he decided to leave Sporting Lisbon for United because of the challenge of reviving the fallen giants and because of the “connection” he feels with the club.

“First of all, I think I felt a connection with the club,” Amorim told Manchester United club media, with his first game away to Ipswich in the Premier League a week tomorrow.

“I feel a connection with the people in the club and that’s very important for me, because I want to work with people I like and I feel a connection. The second point is the history of this club.”

“All the people are hungry for success and I feel that this is the place that I want to be also because of that, because you can be part of something special, not just one more. And that is something that I really like.”

“When you see the games here, when you see the interaction with the managers, with the players, even in difficult moments, I think it’s a special club. So it’s a lot of reasons. But the first reason is because it’s a club with a great history.”
