Squatters take over luxurious Welsh spa resort as soon as owned by Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrisey and declare they are going to make a ‘micro-nation’

Squatters have taken over a luxury Welsh spa and hotel and claim they plan to turn it into a ‘micro-nation’.

The £300-per-night Corran Hotel and Spa was once owned by the Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey before it collapsed in 2021 due to ongoing financial problems.

The group of trespassers, led by Tom Wilkinson, moved into the 21-bed resort in Laugharne, Wales and according to locals began hosting wild late-night parties with friends who would arrive on minibuses.

Wilkinson has argued that he is preserving a piece of history and when he succeeds in his goals he would ‘make Robin Hood look like a true story’.

The entrance to the once luxury destination has now been roped off and its sign has been vandalised.

According to Companies House, the current owner of the hotel is the Seychelles-based Upper Street Holdings, who brought the property in 2022 for less than £20,000.

They have since undertaken legal action with Llanelli County Court to force the squatters out, naming name ‘Mr Thomas Wilkinson AKA Tom Walk and persons unknown’ as the defendants in the case.

In response, Wilkinson posted an image of the claim form on his Facebook page alongside a rant in which he claimed he is planning a ‘counter claim’ of £250,000 against the owners for ‘security costs alone’.

He posted: They really have gone and put their foot in it. Just on security costs alone, my counterclaim comes to £250,000.

‘£25 an hour x3 for 24 hours a day x5 months. If we added renovation costs, maintenance and cleaning to the bill the claimant would basically be paying me.’

Speaking to the Sun, Sandra Flaxman, 75, who runs a nearby campsite claimed she had been forced to padlock her shower and toilet facilities, because Wilkinson and his fellow squatters had been secretly using them.

She added that he had been driving his car up and down her lane to ‘intimidated’.

‘He is terrorising me and this taunting is part of it. I contacted the police about him but they say there’s nothing they can do without an eviction order.

‘So now I’m just praying the court will order him to leave. He is causing everyone around here sleepless nights.’

It in unknown how many people are currently squatting at the property.
